Video otoscope ear canal inspection
For this inspection, we use a tiny camera to look inside your ear canal. This can help us detect common problems, such as excessive wax build-up, eardrum damage or other physical conditions which may make it difficult to hear clearly. In some instances, we find that the hearing loss is caused by simple wax build-up. If this is the case, there may be no need for hearing aids. Our video otoscope inspection is non-invasive, and you remain comfortable throughout the procedure. Here’s the fun part: You can follow along on a color TV monitor as we move the camera inside your ear, so you can see exactly what we see!
Computerized audiometric hearing test
Our electronic test measures precisely how much hearing you’ve lost across several sound frequencies. MCL/UCL testing
At an eye doctor’s office, you look at a wall chart through a device which has several lenses. As the lenses are switched back and forth for each eye, you’re asked, “Is it clearer with this…or this? This…or this?” It’s somewhat the same with our “most comfortable loudness” (MCL) and “uncomfortable loudness” (UCL) testing. As you listen to a series of speech or other sounds, you tell us your impressions of what you’re hearing. This information brings us a step closer to discovering the best solution to your hearing needs.
Computerized live speech mapping
This is one of our most exciting technologies for assessing your hearing loss! With live speech mapping, our computer captures the speech of your spouse or companion. Next — and this is the really amazing part — we can see on the computer screen what you’re hearing and what you’re not hearing. For example, you may have trouble distinguishing between certain consonants, such as “F” and “S”. If this is the case, we can see it on the computer.
